What is EGF?
- A specific natural protein
- Derived from recumbent DNA
- Stimulates the skin’s own natural cell renewal
- Maximizes skin recovery before and after skin treatments
- Gives skin luster, where surgeries nor filler can
How Does EGF Work?
Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is a protein and healing agent composed of 53 amino acids, and is one of the most important growth factors in the human body. The primary purpose of EGF is to renew skin that has been injured and is often used on burn victims.
EGF provides the ability for the skin to rejuvenate and repair the tissue by attracting cells to the affected area and catalyzing the healing process. EGF binds to specific receptors on the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin. As EGF hits these receptors it delivers a message to increase the production of cells to the specific area. This occurs when the skin is in the inflammation stage, after an injury has occurred.
Using Héilo EGF on old, aging, scarred skin helps even out the skin and diminish scars. It is known to stop cells from “sticking”, so to speak.
EGF Used in Skin Products
EGF in our bodies is known to heal injuries to the skin. It can also be used in the same process with aging skin. When EGF is put in a product for the skin, the cells in the skin activate which cause the skin to:
- Thicken (Plump)
- Give a more youthful complexion
- Increase collagen and elastin fibers
Héilo’s EGF products can keep wrinkles at bay, firm up skin and add luster back into your skin.
Do You Need EGF?
When we are younger our bodies naturally produce EGF. However, as we age EGF levels decrease at about the age of 20, and skin becomes thinner by 1% each year.
After menopause skin gets 30% thinner, and when skin is injured it heals much slower because of the decline of EGF in our body. This also means less cell turnover, which is why we at Heilo say to jolt the skin with our EGF products to reveal fresh and firmer skin. It combats the effects of aging. When applying EGF it sends a message to the skin’s receptors to increase cell production, which increases collagen and improves elastin in the skin. Using the Héilo EGF System will help cell turnover and rejuvenate the skin.
